Pat and Arps Horvath have owned and operated this peaceful, scenic hideaway for 25 years and are proud of its rich history and continued tradition of hospitality.
Kangaroo Lake Resort dates back to the days when Door County was
complete wilderness. Built by Captain John Wilson and Mag, his wife, as a summer resort for
their many friends from Chicago, guests initially arrived by steamship, passenger
train, stagecoach, and,
eventually, automobile.
Today, guests create and maintain their own family tradition by vacationing at this tranquil retreat. Seven
well-kept cottages overlook the spacious lawn and beautiful
Kangaroo Lake, which is three miles long and 1.5 miles wide. Kangaroo Lake is wooded all
around and one of the cleanest and clearest lakes in Wisconsin.
Whether swimming, fishing, boating or exploring, the entire family can appreciate the wonders provided by 400 feet of natural shoreline.
Relax with a cool drink in a lawn chair and enjoy a breathtaking
sunset over the lake, or curl up with a good book in front
of a fireplace. Or, have your morning coffee on a screened porch and wake up gently.
With brilliant sunsets, friendly hosts and peaceful days and nights,
a vacation at Kangaroo Lake Resort is sure to be one that you will remember!
